El Salvador — Finca Villa España
Cup of Excellence Farm | Renowned Origin
Coffee has been a cornerstone of El Salvador’s identity for more than a century. First cultivated in the mid-1800s, coffee quickly became the country’s most valuable export, shaping its economy, infrastructure, and even its railroads. By the early 20th century, El Salvador was one of the world’s top coffee producers, known for high-altitude Bourbon varieties grown in volcanic soil and shaded by lush forest canopies. Generations of skilled farmers have carried forward meticulous picking and processing traditions, helping Salvadoran coffees earn a reputation for clarity, sweetness, and balance. Today, despite past challenges from political unrest and disease pressure, El Salvador continues to innovate and preserve its rich coffee heritage, producing some of the most exceptional specialty lots in Central America.
Hailing from Finca Villa España, a Cup of Excellence award-winning farm, these beans are cultivated, processed and exported by the Mena brothers. The Mena family has produced extraordinary coffee in the Ahuachapán region since 1860.
The Ahuachapán region, part of the renowned Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, is a cornerstone of El Salvador's coffee heritage. Known for its high-altitude farms, volcanic soils and ideal climate, this region has been producing world-class coffee since the mid 19th century. The area's rich terroir and dedicated farmers, like the Mena brothers, continue to solidify Ahuachapán's reputation as one of the premier coffee-growing regions in Central America.
